Gugu was a disfigured boy who worked in Booze Man's restaurant after being treated by the latter when he was nearly dying. He covered his damaged face with a mask. He befriended Fushi and Rean, a wealthy young girl who frequented Booze's store. Gugu had an older brother named Shin who abandoned him. Gugu's defining moment came when he sacrificed himself for Rean, dying and becoming a spirit. For four years, Fushi lived as a human until Gugu's death forced him to leave. Gugu's legacy is that he became one of Fushi's spirit companions, later revived when Fushi awakened in the modern era.

In Their Own Story

Gugu worked at Booze Man's restaurant, his face hidden behind a mask after a near-fatal accident. He befriended Fushi and Rean, a wealthy girl who came to the store. When a Nokker attacked, Gugu sacrificed himself to protect Rean, dying and becoming a spirit. His death forced Fushi to leave after four years of living as a human. Centuries later, when Fushi awakened in the modern era, he revived Gugu along with his other eleven spirit companions—March, Tonari, Bonchien, and others.
